variable to HMI

I have tried to modify the button blink example for RPI to add a box to view a variable. I can add to the HMI, however If I reference anything other than one of the RPI outputs in the connection string, the HMI does not work. 

I am looking at using this to display temperatures measured by a OW Temp probe.

Any suggestions?

Hi Darren, this example might help. It uses 1-Wire temperature sensor and displays the value in HMI.
