New user, getting started

Hi all,
I am attempting the "getting started with Rex and Raspberry Pi" tutorial but am having some problems.
The core seems to be installed OK and I can download the tutorial code.

But then when watching it execute, it doesn't behave as the document says.

1) I have the Y output from the AND_ block connected to the U input of a TIMER_. When monitoring both, I can see that the Y output is on but the U input is off.

2) If I connect the U input of the TIMER_ directly to a cnb_switch, I can indeed turn it on. But, the timer still doesn't work - rt stays at 0 and Q also. (The timer is set up as delayed on and pt=5).

What am I doing wrong, can someone advise please?

Hi,

it seems that the TIMER_ block is not executed.
The reason can be that you accidentally checked "HALT" checkbox in TIMER_ block properties - see screenshot:

Yes that was it! Simple but very confusing mistake

Great, now I proceed and hope to demonstrate that REX is the right tool for the job - a heating system with various controls including MODBUS, need for local and remote HMI and some data logging.

Hi Evan,

I'm glad I could help. We are aware that online monitoring doesn't display any info about HALTED function blocks - it is already on our future feature list.

REX should be able to fulfill all requirements of your project - according to your brief description. Let us know about your progress.

Hi again,
I carried on with the tutorial for Raspberry Pi, and found one other thing which tripped me up:

"in the folder with the project files, create a hmisrc subfolder. Inside this folder, create
a file named index.html.js and edit it with your favorite text editor".

This doesn't work. Later in the text it refers to index.hmi.js - that does work!

Hi Evan,
you are right, that is a typo in the documentation. The source file must be named index.hmi.js. I have updated the documentation:
