Hello,
I was wondering is it possible to connect Arduino boards over ethernet and use them as RexDuino modules?
Either using Arduino board with ethernet port, or maybe other device as ethernet to serial bridge? (for this purpose maybe NanoPi? really cheap).
Did anybody tried something like this?
Regards
Hubert
btw - maybe someone have some experience with using cat5e ethernet cable as USB to USB connection (direct, no amplifiers etc)?
I was trying to establish such connection (R PI - Arduino Uno) over cat5e cable - around 35 meters distance - without success. But I'll give it another shot, maybe USB connectors wasn't properly mounted

Hello Hubert,
thank you for all your remarks. There is no support in Rex for connecting RexDuino to the master Rex over ethernet. We have never tried to connect it this way or by means of "USB over ethernet cable".
Lately we came across a cheap WiFi enabled Arduino like chip ESP8266 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESP8266. There are also many boards equipped with this chip - I will mention one of them which helped us to speed up the integration of such chip - Wemos D1 mini https://www.hackster.io/esp/products/wemos-d1-mini. It can be integrated to Rex by means of REST API via WiFi network.
If you have any further questions, let us know.
Regards, Tomas
